About the Role

Critical aspects for this position are selling and brand-building our portfolio of wines to existing customers, developing new key accounts, and collaborating with our current and future wholesaler partners in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, the District of Columbia, West Virginia, and Virginia. They should think like an owner and be accountable for a sustainable record of sales achievements accomplished with a broad knowledge of our products, philosophy, policies, and the competitive landscape.

Position Requirements

-       Entrepreneurial spirit and field sales experience emphasizing new business development, face-to-face selling, and the ability to close the sale.

-       Experience and knowledge of the assigned territory from wholesalers to key account decision makers.

-       Provide evidence to support direct sales achievements.

-       Experience working with structured sales-driven companies.

-       Must be meticulous, efficient, and possess solid time management skills.

-       Must have strong business acumen, keen negotiating skills, and excellent computer skills.

-       Five years or more experience working for a wine distributor or supplier/importer/broker.

Position Responsibilities

- Work “on the street” in your assigned markets a minimum of 4 days per week.

- Conduct regular calls on their top 25 on- & off-premise accounts in each state within their region in addition to distributor market “ride-withs” to ensure sales execution, pricing integrity, and brand-building initiatives are implemented.

- Responsible for meeting or exceeding our sales objectives, including national account compliance, execution of marketing programs, and attainment of profit goals.

- Cultivate and/or maintain strong relationships with wholesale partners and key accounts.

- Consistently call on regional chain accounts to implement and review our brand program priorities.

- Conduct all necessary education and training for distributors and accounts.

- Develop and lead promotional events.

- Create and maintain an organized database of key accounts.

- Participate in trade and consumer tastings, as well as wine dinners, for our key accounts in the markets.

- Achieve or exceed annual accounts sold, depletion and shipment objectives, and profit goals in your markets.

- Work alongside senior management to implement and oversee our sales plan in each market.

- Conduct all duties professionally, effectively, and efficiently to meet our company standards.

- Follow pricing policies that capitalize on market opportunities while delivering company profitability.

- Assist in quarterly business reviews and strategy planning with distributor partners.


Administrative Duties

- Manage travel and expense budgets.

- Manage the annual marketing budget for your territory.

- Submit competitive pricing and market analysis reports as requested.

- Provide senior management with requested reports, including a monthly and/or weekly accomplishment recap, regional account updates, top 100 account updates, national chain placements, market work-with schedules, etc.

- Business Reviews to be created and presented to distributor partners as required.

The primary focus is on execution at the account level and requires a self-motivated person willing to commit to the hours needed to get the job done. Successful candidates will be high-energy, high-credibility personalities who love to close deals, love working in the wine industry, and are proven, trusted relationship builders in the market.
